About me

Hi, I'm Oxana, a self-taught frontend developer with a slightly unconventional journey.

I didn't start in tech - I actually hold a PhD in Environmental Studies and spent some time working as a researcher. But after realizing that the world of academia wasn't for me, I stepped away and, leveraging my multilingual skills, pivoted to international sales, working for Italian luxury furniture brands. While that role taught me resilience, problem-solving, and client relations, it wasn't my dream job. I craved something more creative and challenging.

After taking a break to recharge, I rediscovered coding - and I was hooked. With a knack for math and prior experience improving university software during my PhD, coding felt like the perfect fit. What began as curiosity quickly turned into something I couldn't put down. Through online courses and countless late-night problem-solving sessions, I taught myself frontend development.

Since then, I've been fortunate to gain hands-on experience, working with a fantastic team on two large-scale React applications that thousands of people use! I'm constantly looking for ways to improve these projects as I continue learning and growing. I genuinely love what I do - it's challenging, but that's what makes it exciting!

When I'm not coding, I'm busy raising a curious and kind little human, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or getting lost in a good book.
